Invitation of CityArts Gala

The editor of eCCO Magazine would like to draw readers’ attention to an invitation published by the Director of  CITYart. CityArts Gala

Dear Friend,
We hope that the heartache of the moment will lead to Change from Within!  As we experience this Pandemic and Public Outcry, we come to realize that we all Breathe the Same AIR – and that our air has NO COLOR! We come to realize that what matters most in life is how many lives we impact and save. Let us all CARE and DARE to DO SOMETHING GOOD so that we may enjoy living in this ONE Home called Earth in PEACE together.
CITYarts continues to engage our youth in positive creation and to empower, educate, and connect our youth to realize their potential and transform communities. We need you to help us continue to make a significant impact on the lives of our children and communities.
Please join us as CITYarts celebrates 31 years of impacting and empowering young lives and transforming communities as we embrace a new era in Public Art, Education, and Creation. As we conform to the new culture of social distancing, our upcoming 2020 Annual VIRTUAL Gala: Making a Difference Through the Arts will be held live online during the evening of June 23rd.
We hope that you will join our Leadership Circle as we honor the following individuals who have made a significant impact on the arts and education in our City and abroad:
Rita and Waldo Falkener – Art & Education and Artists Advocates who have been members of the MoMA Friends of Education Committee for over 15 years, where they have collaborated to highlight significant African-American artists in MoMA’s exhibitions and their own collection.
Agnes Denes – Internationally renowned artist, writer, and educator whose ecological and philosophical concerns made her a pioneer of the Land Art movement. Her recent retrospective exhibition at The Shed, Agnes Denes: Absolutes and Intermediates, was the most comprehensive to date of her work in New York.
Benjamin Lev – Educator and Founding Principal of The Hamilton Grange School in Harlem, whose work to integrate arts and education helped the school gain recognition as the #1 Middle School in the State of New York (2017-18). Through his leadership, The Hamilton Grange School is one of only four schools identified in the United States as a “School to Learn From” by Teach for America.

Since 1989, CITYarts has worked with over 200,000 youth in collaboration with more than 600 artists to revitalize and transform the neighborhoods of New York City and beyond through the creation of more than 330 public art projects, including murals and mosaic. Funds raised support CITYarts’ public art initiatives, giving youth a voice to express themselves on issues that are important to their lives.
During this period when we all must strive to reinvent ourselves, CITYarts is working to bring art to all of you in a truly unique way. Though we are forced to stay apart, CITYarts remains connected with our Youth as we ignite their imaginations to work with their families and our artists remotely on our inspiring new CITYarts program: Paint Your Neighborhood/School From Your HeART At Home. This program will give our Youth something to look forward to when they are able to come back to school. Their drawings, poems, and ideas will be infused into a mockup by an Artist, so that once school is back in session, our Youth will paint their visions on the wall of their school or community.
By joining our Leadership Circle, you will help us to empower more youth to expand their imagination and keep them engaged in the creative process — because when kids create, they bring brightness and hope…
Please Help our Youth build a peaceful and connected world where we can celebrate our differences and help each other overcome any obstacles that come our way. The human spirit is strong, and our Youth will carry this message of POSITIVE CHANGE into the future.
We will be sending you easy instructions on how our zoom gala can be accessed from home.
Thank you! We look forward to celebrating with you!
