The LGBTQ Experience in Public Relations

The editor of eCCO Magazine would like to draw readers’ attention to an event, organized by the Museum of Public Relations and its board of trustees: “The LGBTQ Experience in Public Relations”

The eCCO Magazine received an invitation that the editorial staff would like to share with its readers.

“On behalf of the Museum of Public Relations and its board of trustees, I’d like to invite you to our second annual Pride event, June 30, 6-8 pm EDT. This year we’ll be holding the event as a webcast, broadcast over OnStream media. And if our last event is any indication, this program should be a big success.

The program, “The LGBTQ Experince in Public Relations” will feature Del Galloway, vice president, Wells Fargo; Jim Joseph, president, BCW; and Cathy Renna, comms director at GLAAD, in addition to two panels of leaders in PR, Media and Communications. The discussions will include both the social and workplace issues impacting the LGBTQ community.

The link to the event page has information on registration, panelists, and sponsorship. We’d be very grateful for contributions at any level to help support this event and the ongoing operations of the Museum. All contributions to the Museum, a 501(c)(3), are tax-deductible. As a sponsor, you will have your name or logo listed on the website, on social media, and will be announced by me at the start of the program.

Feel free to share this registration link with any friends or colleagues you think might be interested in watching. There will be time at the end devoted to Q&A.

Join us for the Museum’s second annual tribute to our industry’s LGBTQ community. Discussions will delve into the societal and workplace issues impacting the community today. Panel I will explore the historical milestones since the Stonewall protests 50 years ago: the impact of HIV/AIDS, the role played by the gay media, and the social activists who helped bring us to where we are today. Panel II will explore issues affecting the LGBTQ community at work: employment discrimination, family leave, ERG’s and the continued challenges with inclusion and acceptance.”
