2025 Deadline Club Awards

The Deadline Club of the Society of Professional Journalist call for Awards.

The Deadline Club’s journalism competition, one of the most prestigious in New York, is open for entries.

The 2025 contest covers work that was published or broadcast in 2024 by news organizations in the New York metropolitan area. Entrants must be employees of or freelance journalists for news organizations with an office within a 50-mile radius of Columbus Circle in New York City.

There are 36 categories covering all media formats. It is important to review the categories carefully to determine entry eligibility.

DEADLINES

There are two contest deadlines. You will save if you submit your entries early. 

The first deadline is January 31 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The fee is $90 per entry. 

Beginning February 1, the fee is $120 per entry. 

The final deadline is February 12, at 11:59 p.m. ET. 

The contest is managed by BetterBNC, which requires contestants to create an Open Call Contestant account. More information on how to enter this year’s contest is available via the link or button below:

Finalists will be announced in early April, and winners will be announced during the Deadline Club’s annual awards dinner on May 15 at the Harvard Club of New York City.

Each winner will receive a “Rube,” an award statuette designed exclusively for the Deadline Club by Rube Goldberg, the “dean of American cartoonists.”
